Serve on the Fraternity's National House Corporation
Alpha Sigma Phi housing (house, lodge, room, or suite) is provided on many of the campuses where Alpha Sigma Phi has a chapter. The house serves not only as a place for members to live and meet, but also as an important expression and symbol of the chapter's presence in its campus community.
At the local level, the house corporation is a group of Alpha Sigma Phi alumni and undergraduate representatives that oversee the management of the chapter's housing facility. This group's responsibilities include managing finances, maintaining the facilities, and supervising employees. In cases where a house corporation exists, it is a separate legal entity from the fraternity.
The CLVEN National Housing Corporation is an independent legal entity created by the Fraternity in 2010 as a response to the growing need for chapter housing, greater financial resources, and professional management of fraternity chapter property. CLVEN's Mission is to enhance the undergraduate fraternity experience by providing assistance and support as it relates to housing or other forms of shared space through House Corporations and Chapters of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
The Board of Directors consists of at least five alumni members of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity who are appointed by the Fraternity's Grand Council; one member of the Grand Council, appointed by the Grand Council; and one member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation, recommended by the Foundation and confirmed by the Grand Council. The President and CEO of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. A board member may not serve more than two consecutive, four year terms. CLVEN Board members serve at the pleasure of the Grand Council of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity as volunteer LLC managers. Terms for CLVEN coincide with the terms of the Grand Council, which begin and end at a Grand Chapter.
