Grand Senior President

The Fraternity's Highest Chapter Honor

This award is considered the highest honor given to a chapter on a campus with a large Greek community (11 or more IFC fraternities) and a chapter on a campus with a small Greek community (10 or fewer IFC fraternities). The chapter must excel in all aspects of Alpha Sigma Phi and meet all criteria of the Alpha Kappa Pi Gold Cup, including being in good standing with Alpha Sigma Phi Headquarters. The Grand Senior President's Cup was first awarded in 1960 at the 25th Grand Chapter in Marietta, Ohio.

Prior to 1998, the award was called the Grand Senior President's Award. In 1998, President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Hinkley arranged for the purchase of a large trophy. Not just any cup was chosen to hold the names of the organization's best. If you look closely at the top of the trophy you may notice a recognizable figure. The same company that makes the awards for the Oscars and the Emmys also created the Fraternity's Grand Senior President's Cup. The Fraternity's cup should not be touched by human hands - gloves should always be worn. The cup stays at Alpha Sigma Phi Headquarters year-round unless on display at Grand Chapter, Elevate, or a similar national leadership conference.
